I will explain more down below…as obviously we are not going to remove out kitchen and bathroom are we hehe.
It definetly feels like a never ending job, so I decided to pay attention to what I was doing on repeat eveyr day. Like picking up toys and tidying up. Between caring for the kids, managing the house, planning for meals, cleaning becomes overwhelming and feels impossible. With these tweaks, you can make your day much easier! Here are ten easy cleaning tips for mums that will save you time and effort.
This post is all about 10 Easy Cleaning Tips for Mums: Simple Home Tweaks to Keep Your House Tidy.
Effortless Home Cleaning
We all know a stay-at-home mum cleaning schedule is another level! Why? Because we are home all day with the kids unless we go out for a trip or shopping. This means the house is being trashed by our kids 24/7 and makes cleaning and tidying a little harder.
1. Declutter and Organize Every Room
I get a little anxious talking about home organization tips as I deeply believe if I am having to think of an organization system its likely that I have too much to organize. So the first tweak is to go through every room one by one and remove anything that we don’t use or love for a clutter-free home. Add all these items into bags and I now have a pile adding up that I will need to deal with eventually. Once the pile is big enough I will be going to our local car boot sale to get rid in one go taking any offers. While I wait for this day, I have lots of items also on Vinted.
For effortless home cleaning the less you have the easier it is to clean. So once you have been to the car boot sale on the way home if you have anything left drive straight to your local charity shop so the items don’t end up back in your house. A clutter-free home makes tidying up much faster!
When it comes to organisation, before purchasing more storage really consider what you are trying to store – does it need to go?
2. Choose Easy-to-Clean Surfaces
Think low maintenance when looking at furniture or even materials. Don’t bother with things that show finger marks. You need easy to wipe down, such as leather sofas or quartz countertops. The last things you need is dust and stains.
3. Use a Daily Cleaning Routine
For an cleaning routine for busy mums, start the night before doing a 15 minutes to reset. This includes, making sure the dishes are done, putting a wash on if needed, a kitchen clean up, tidy up of toys etc. This is all so you wake up to a nice neat house. Do the same after breakfast, putting everything back in place.
4. Invest in Smart Storage Solutions
Install smart storage solutions to store what you need. Storage items such as label baskets, under-bed organizers and hanging shelves are a great idea to minimize mess. I personally have open top baskets so the kids can put their own toys away and also help themselves.
5. Keep Cleaning Supplies Handy
Store cleaning supplies in easily accessible spots throughout your home. Having a small caddy with essentials like disinfectant wipes, a microfiber cloth, and a spray bottle in each room can make quick clean-ups effortless.
Keeping cleaning supplies in the room you use them or one place upstairs and one place downstairs will make its easier to access. I have chosen to go down the eco-friendly route, reason being I like the planet as well as my kids have eczema issues therefore I like to keep the house as non=toxic as possible. The products I am using at the minute are called Miniml and all you need is a spray bottle and a hand wash bottle.
- All purpose cleaner – Eco White Vinegar Cleaning Sorrento Lemon Scented
- Hand Cleaner – Hand Soap Wash Liquid 1L Refill
- Eco Antibacterial Spray Surface Cleaner 5L Refill
- Eco Washing Up Liquid 5L Refill – Wild Rhubarb & Lemon Scented Non Bio & Skin Sensitive
I tend to buy the 5 litre bottles as its cheaper and then I don’t need to shop as often either.
6. Establish a “Shoes Off” Policy
This is super simple, shoes off when you enter the house end of. This reduces dirt and germs and not only that especially if you have a baby crawling around the last thing you want is your baby crawling on a floor that others have dirtied up. This keeps your floors cleaner for longer and your babies safe in their own home.
7. Use Washable and Stain-Resistant Fabrics
Choose everything thats machine washable and dishwasher safe. When it comes to cushion covers, curtains, rugs, plates, cups etc. Make your life easy! You don’t want to be having to hand wash things, if you don’t need to be.
8. Implement a One-Minute Rule
If it takes less than one minute – just do it immediately. These quick cleaning tips can change your world. It stops everything piling up and having to deal with a tonne of mess.
9. Set Up a “Drop Zone”
Now, I don’t have a drop zone but I have a drop basket which is my laundry basket. Chuck anything in the laundry baskert as it will be taken upstairs at the end of the day no matter what. This will prevent clutter from gathering and having to deal with it later.
10. Get the Whole Family Involved
Making cleaning and tidying part of your day will encourage your kids to get involved naturally. Be sure to ask for help from your partner when needed after all you are a family unit.
